Altamont is situated near Ballon, in County Carlow and is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful gardens of Ireland. It is certainly an enchanting blend of formal and informal. There are riverside walks, a lake, an arboretum, a bog garden and also the “Ice Age Glen” with its canopy of ancient oaks.
