I'm intrigued by faces and figures and love the opportunity to sketch or paint from life. Sometimes, out of necessity - see the 1930s racing drivers below, I have no choice but to work from a photograph, but I feel that my ongoing practise of careful observation helps me to bring life to those historical subjects too.
